Here is your “Road Map” to Wellness! 🙂
Your Basic Chakra System (Your Spiritual/Energetic Anatomy) is the first and MOST important tool you can learn when it comes to self healing and balance, in my humble and holistic opinion.
In order to find balance in our lives, we focus on “Whole Health”, which will includes our conscious and subconscious Mind, physical Body, energetic Spirit and feeling Emotions.
The photo shown here is a picture of your 7 Major Chakra System (the simplest of all chakra systems). We will talk a lot more in depth about your Spiritual Anatomy and the different chakra systems in future pages, but for now, just think of it as a diagram on the basic 4 areas of your life (mind, body, spirit, and emotion), now expanded into a total of 7 (your 7 chakras- survival, creation, power, relationships, expression, intuition, inspiration).
Each one of these colorful, energetic circles on your body (or each “chakra”) represents a different area of your human life, and in color, form a complete rainbow. They work together in harmony. If one chakra out of balance, the others do not function to the best of their potential, until balance is restored.
How is this 7 Chakra System a “Road Map” to wellness?
Well, when we feel out of balance, or we are having an off day, we can look at this diagram and pin point the part of our life that is causing us discomfort (aka, “the chakra that is out of balance”), and we can consciously work on this area, to bring it back into balance, using our intention and some really FUN and sparkly Holistic Tools! More on these tools in a bit! 😉
What gets us out of balance in the first place?
A lot of the time we run around feeling exhausted or moody, and never really give ourselves the time and self care that we need to sit back, examine how we feel, ask ourselves why we feel the way we feel, what we need in the moment or feel like we are lacking, and make the priority to take action, doing what we need to do for ourselves to make us feel better, and our lives more successful. If stress and negative energy is simply tolerated as a part of our normal life, and something we just have to live with (like so many do), all of that negative energy builds up within our Spiritual Anatomy, gets bounced around within our aura and chakra system and eventually this negative energy manifests in some way, either in negative emotions, anger, or physical pain or illness. SO much of the time we don’t understand why we feel depressed, or angry, turned off by intimacy, uninspired, unmotivated, angry, or misunderstood… This concept of the 7 chakras gives us a visual of what we wont to keep balanced within out lives, so we can catch the signs early, and prevent the manifestation of unwanted emotions, stress and disease. It helps us understand US on a deeper level and in a more complete and accurate way. 🙂
Here is what each area represents (from bottom to top), in the most simple explanation:
- Red– Base (or Root) Chakra- Represents your basic survival needs (food, shelter, connection to the earth, animals and others)
- Orange– Sacral Chakra- Your Sex Center (reproduction, intimacy, creativity, mental mind, action)
- Yellow– Solar Plexus Chakra- Your personal power, self worth, motivation, will power
- Green– Heart Chakra- Your emotions
- Blue– Throat Chakra- Communication, how you express yourself
- Indigo– The Third Eye Chakra- Your Dreams, Intuition, Psychic Vision and how you perceive the World
- Violet– Crown Chakra- Your connection to the Universe, your spirituality, relationship with your higher self, God, or whatever you feel connected to spiritually, universal inspiration from outside sources
As we learn about these 7 areas of our life (our 7 chakras), we begin to see how important it is to nourish each area and not stay overly focused, or overly stimulated in just one or two. Balance is key. 🙂
What would be considered an imbalance within the 7 chakras?
Here is an example for you! 🙂 A man or woman who is feeling grief over a loss of a family member or pet would want to work to mend and strengthen their “Heart Chakra”, since this is the center for emotion and relationships… It would be important to experience their emotions in a healthy and complete way, and them gradually heal and move on. Some people can’t move on from this type of pain, and their lives spiral into darkness. It is important to acknowledge these difficult times as normal human experiences, and just important to learn how to work through them and grow into a stronger, and more complete versions of ourselves. This is soul growth. 🙂 If a person resists this healing process, and stays stuck in this emotional pain, this is the energetic imbalance of the hear chakra that we would need to need to work on, in order for this individual to be able to return back to a healthy, balanced state.
Some people have a very difficult time believing in their selves enough to be their own healers. Many believe they need to seek help from others. In some extreme cases, this may be true. There are licensed medical professionals in place to aid those in this state, and I encourage these individuals to seek out this help when needed. Use your best judgment here! In less extreme cases, I truly believe that the only person someone really needs to find happiness, health, healing, meaning, balance and love in their lives, is themselves. It is through the 7 Charas that we learn to rely on our own personal power, knowledge, intuition and ability to self heal. 🙂
Congratulations on your #1 Step!
You are now equipped with the bone basics, of your “Road Map” to Wellness! The 7 Chakras.
Tip: You do not need to memorize this chart, but you may want to save this image to your phone or computer, or print it out. 🙂 On it, take note of the basic meanings. We will talk to more about how to use this diagram, and more about its origins in future discussions.
