Only a few years ago, I had no idea that I had the potential to heal myself.
I had no accurate knowledge of what holistic healing was, and had never personally experienced any form of it, prior to me being desperate to help myself become happier and healthier. I was no stranger to post postpartum depression, needed some serious stress relief and some glimmer of inner peace (whatever that was)… If I didn’t find some sort of relief, I was going to end up either losing my noodle, requesting medication from my Dr., or I may have just curled up in a dark corner somewhere, completely shut down and died.
Well, after some long winded contemplation and a few emotional tears, I decided that losing my noodle wasn’t an option, curling up and dying wasn’t my style, and I certainly didn’t like the idea of welcoming a pharmaceutical of any kind into my daily mommy/wife routine. I truly felt like that was an extreme, that would only mask my problems, instead of getting to the root of them and healing. I didn’t want to take that step yet, at least not until I explored some other, less invasive options first.
Were there other options?……. I did some digging.
I turned to audio books. Listening to self help audio books like, “The Power” by Rhonda Byrne, while doing the dishes and laundry. This became my first “therapeutic pastime”. Self help books turned into self healing books, then and books on spirituality and meditation, and so on. “Listening” became a type of meditation for me and the World around me literally started to change.
Meditation became my medication.
So many people in our Western culture feel that the only way to accomplish more is to do more. When you are searching for more peace, and a healthier mind, body and spirit, I believe the opposite is true. Slow down, DO less, LISTEN more. I was hooked on the practice of listing and quieting my mind, and was already feeling better than I had in quite some time! I soon began listing to more than just audio books. I began going outside with my morning coffee. I sat each morning, rain, snow or shine, on the front steps of my home, where I made a point to breathe deeply and listen to the birds sing and the trees move in the breeze. This began to bring me closer to nature. I turned off the television that usually played in the background throughout the day, and listened to the beautiful silence that resonated through my home during my children’s afternoon nap time. I started opening my windows to listen to the peeper frogs at night as I fell asleep, instead of burying my face into my social media app one last time, before I turned out the light.
One day to my surprise and amazement, I noticed that if I listened long enough, there was much more to hear than just what was around me and what poured out from a pair of headphones. It was my inner voice, and Spiritual Guidance Team, who was about to help me change my life, in a very unexpected way, and completely for the better. It is my hope that through the information in this blog, and the love and support of your own inner wisdom, you will find true health, wealth, love, balance, peace, purpose, passion, and whatever else it is that your authentic self may desire! Once you create space for receiving, Universal inspiration and communication finally has a chance to unfold and be present in your life.
Everything you need is inside of you, and is there for your discovery! (As cliche or as corny as that sounds, it’s true!) There is no need to sit on top of a mountain in a lotus position to feel and receive peace. Meditation, to me, is about us finding simple ways to create that quite opportunity and “space” in our minds, so that we may receive love, support, and inspiration from so much more than what our fast paced 3 denominational, 5th sensory World has to offer.
I highly recommend this audio book by Sonia Choquette, entitled, “The Power of Your Spirit”. It helps you connect with you’r breathe, as well as who on are a spiritual level.
In addition, here is one of my personal favorite chakra meditation/self healing audios. I like to listen to this as i’m falling asleep, as often as I can. It is AMAZINGLY helpful for grounding and for releasing stress and negativity.
