Hi there, Pretty Blossom!
I had a beautiful friend contact me today with questions about my views on Faith and my use of the Tarot.
This has been a topic that I feel like I have been wanting to open up about, so I am going to do my best to do so…
I am actually really glad this questions was asked! The way I use tarot is not for divinity. It is for personal growth and introspection. I have meditated a lot on this topic of The Tarot, and I have been criticized a lot about using it also, but in my heart, I know that God understands how I use it, and knows that it is not to undermine Him, or push aside The Law of Free Will, both of which I hold high and dear to my heart! 🙂
A lot of things that people say about the tarot are simply superstitions, in my view. Tarot cards and Oracle Cards are only card stock with beautiful pictures and art that elicit some type of symbolic and/or emotional response within us.
These pictures each represent something in our life that we go through, on our way to self acceptance, self-healing, and finding spiritual awareness, which brings us closer to Divine Love… By seeing a card, it gives us the opportunity to think about it’s suggested meaning, and think about how it may uniquely pertain to our life.
Sometimes a card may give us a message of hope, when other times it may give us a new perspective. Either way, they are just drawings that make us think about our own lives, objectively, and the things we are going through. It is a way to help us step outside of our emotions, and see from a different perspective, and learn to find the silver linings, lessons, and blessing in our lives that we often overlook. A cards symbolism is something that you can take or leave, and at the end of the day, they are just pictures on paper that help us expand our own consciousness.
Let me be clear, with how I use cards, I see no magic and no spirits involved, except looking deeper into my own, and taking the opportunity to improve myself by seeing my life more from the loving eyes of the Universe. I don’t personally believe in or support fortune telling, and I have a post about this on my blog (click here to be taken to this post). Fortune telling does not respect free will, which is something that I do, very much. I don’t judge people who do take part in “fortune telling” practices, nor is how they choose to use the Tarot my business. That is not my place, frankly, but I choose to only operate from a place of Love.
I personally have asked God in prayer his thoughts on this and the God that I know understands that I work from a place of love, and the only reason why I use holistic tools like crystals and oils and tarot is to help me know myself and know him better, and this is also what I bring into my workshops and courses as well. The only criticism I receive is from others who judge me too quickly, but I know that the only being who can judge me is God, and the relationship that I have with him is my own so I don’t feel the need to have to defend myself… This is simply my truth.
Tarot is a tool, and how you use it is what it becomes for you.
People can choose to use it for fortune telling, but it is the personal potentially doing harm, not the tool, in my view. I can choose to use it for beauty, personal growth and a way to help others feel empowered to do the same, but again, it is the person, not the tool.
I am confidant that if you learned how to use The Tarot out of Love and as a tool for personal growth, introspection and a way to become closer to God, it would become sacred to you, as it has for me. Whether people understand my view or not, is part of their own journey. 🙂
Follow your heart with this one, Pretty Blossom! I personal LOVE GOD, and he perfectly fine with enjoying and using holistic tools for personal growth and self improvement, in fact, he celebrates it! 🙂
